Meet Our Founders

YTB was founded by three extraordinary visionaries who wanted to help individuals uncover their true potential and lead happier, more successful lives.  And, they’re extremely passionate about continuing to help people do just that.

J. Lloyd “Coach” Tomer

In January 1981, after spending 13 years in the ministry, “Coach” Tomer became an agent of the A. L. Williams Company (now known as Primerica Financial Services). He achieved the level of Senior National Sales Director in 1985 and maintained that position through 2001. While at A. L. Williams, the JLT Group built a successful sales organization numbering in the thousands, whose combined life insurance sales were measured in the billions, with assets under management of $750 million. He retired after accomplishing his goal of helping his team members achieve financial independence. In 2001, Coach co-founded YourTravelBiz.com and is now mentoring a new group of leaders who will set the standards for excellence in the referral marketing industry.

J. Scott Tomer

Scott Tomer was Coach Tomer’s first recruit in the A.L. Williams Company with the responsibility of field support and training for a sales force numbering over 2,000. He became a National Sales Director before leaving in 1992. Today, Scott and his father work closely together on many projects. Their goal is to use what they have learned to build a great and profitable company that delivers a product with great value to the customer and compensates its sales force in direct proportion to their efforts with no income limits.

My job is to protect this company so it will be here for you and your family for generations to come. - J. Scott Tomer

J. Kim Sorensen – Forever a Founder, Always in our hearts.

April 13, 1950 – February 1, 2012

Kim Sorensen had an extensive business background. He owned businesses and managed a multi-million dollar real estate complex in Springfield, IL. In 1981, he joined the JLT group and rose to the position of Senior Vice President with A. L. Williams. Kim was the person who first realized the awesome potential of combining Internet travel and referral marketing. He made the decision to move to the St. Louis area to help Coach with whatever was needed to grow YTB, providing technical and management support. The Rep and Travel websites, marketing materials, operations and YTB Travel Network benefited from his leadership. His vision helped turn the dream of YTB into the reality it is today, and why he was recognized as one of the 33 most influential people in the travel industry.  Kim was an amazing man to say the least, and he is greatly missed.  In everything he did, he put people first.  In fact, Kim’s extraordinary life was centered on his passion for helping individuals write their own success story.

I need everyone to get in the game. - J. Kim Sorensen
